Musician David Andrew Wiebe intends to support local businesses by bringing audiences out to shopping centres they may not have visited before.

Calgary, AB (PRWEB) January 26, 2009 -- Calgary is a growing city with many new residential and commercial developments springing up daily. In addition to the current economic recession, urban sprawl can sometimes be a curse for a business owner, as there are many people who are unaware of these new developments.

Creekside Shopping Centre is a new development on the northwestern edge of Calgary along Simon's Valley Road. It has been in development since 2007, and is now home to many prominent shopping and hardware centres, as well as fast-food chains and coffeehouses.

When local musician David Andrew Wiebe cold-called the Good Earth Café at Creekside seeking bookings to fill out his schedule, he was told that he could come and perform, but that they would not be able to pay him. As much as they wanted to, they indicated that business was slow and they weren't even sure that they could guarantee an audience.

Wiebe, a Hidden Valley resident, decided to take the gig regardless of pay in an effort to help support this local business. He indicated that he would be able to bring out an audience with some good promotion, and expose potential patrons to the Creekside Shopping Centre.

Singer/songwriter David Andrew Wiebe is scheduled to perform at the Good Earth Café on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2009.
