It's hard to believe that I've been performing as a solo artist for over 6 years now, but I really appreciate all the support I've received over the years. You may have missed this unless you're a friend of mine on Facebook, so I'd like to invite you to become a fan of mine. You are welcome whether you're a Facebook friend or not.

I decided that it was time to update my bio, so here's the latest revision. Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think:

Despite being involved in a variety of band efforts, the first time David Andrew Wiebe ever graced the stage as a solo artist was in the summer of 2003. At the time, he simply presented a handful of guitar instrumental pieces, with no foreknowledge of where that would lead.

In 2005, he would go on to perform more frequently as a solo artist, and in addition to his guitar playing, he also began singing in concert. This marked a drastic transition in his career.

On September 8, 2006 Wiebe would go on to release his first solo album, Shipwrecked... My Sentiments. This album showcased his frantic fret-work and Costello-esque vocal tones. The album was markedly different from previous band efforts in which the primary focus was the Hard Rock genre. Shipwrecked... featured more of a laid back vibe, treating audiences to his versatility and creative imagination.

Wiebe's songwriting is eloquent, rich, and sometimes quirky. Many of his songs address the human condition of brokenness and spirituality. Relationships are at the heart of life, and it is a favorite subject of Wiebe's, who has gone through his fair share of tragedy and hardship; surviving a major disaster, the death of his father and his cousin Mitch.

Wiebe is also fluent in Japanese, having spent 8 and a half of his formative years there. Audiences have been treated to songs in both English and Japanese, and while English-speaking audiences may not understand what is being sung, they still appreciate the art and craft of singing in a language other than their own.

Wiebe, having experienced what it means to "fall in love" in 2008, is currently working on a second solo album in which he laments the loss of his love but also expresses his hope for the future.

The latest "Adorable Andrew" episodes feature some new music I've written.

Let's Play Sandora no Daibouken part 11 features a song called "Embarking Upon an Adventure" that I finished very recently.

In part 12, you can hear "Whitewater", a song I wrote as part of Project 365.

Part 13 prominently features a brand new song I wrote called "Ecstatic". You can also hear "Ecstatic" playing in the background in my latest podcast episode.

As you may have figured out already, this site is still in a state of flux. I'm in the process of making some fixes, reworking some content, and developing a menu. Please bear with me as I continue to work on this.

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but this site went completely blank today. I apologize if this has caused any inconvenience, as it appears it may have been infected with some kind of virus. Please bear with me while I try to get everything working again.

I finally got everything up and working on Angels Breaking Silence.com (although we still need content). Most of the work was completed last night, and it took a great deal of time, but it was still very rewarding and maybe even a little bit enjoyable *gasp!*.

Please take a look, let me know what you think, and report any errors you may have noticed. Enjoy!

I hope that you've had an enjoyable New Year's Eve. I'm looking forward to what this New Year has in store.

I have some lofty goals in mind for 2009, but I'm also keen on finding a balance so as not to burnout. God willing, here's what I'm hoping to have accomplished this year:

  • MIDIs for all 367 songs of Project 365
  • An additional 33 MIDI compositions
  • New album release
Please pray for me as I continue work on these projects.

I hope and wish the very best for you in 2009. See you at the next show!

God bless.

I've been working on the site today, trying to get things a little more organized. Hopefully, the long-term efficiency will far outweigh the short-term confusion.

Everything that used to be in the "Journal" section has been moved here. Now you can comment on the photos and entries.

Everything to do with Shipwrecked... My Sentiments is still here, and can be found at this link. I've made a few minor changes in this section to make the navigation a little easier. The CD giveaway contest is now closed.

There are plenty of new free items in the downloads section, and there will be plenty more to come.

I'm also working on the time line for 2008. This should be up shortly.

ABS-Poster.jpg Hi, everyone! I apologize that updates have been rather scarce. It's been a really crazy year but I've been growing closer to God and the band has been doing really well! I know you may not see me doing a lot of stuff out there, but I assure you there's plenty going on behind the scenes.

In the first week of October I had the chance to go to Hawaii for a much needed vacation. I had a great time, and had plenty of time to relax and recoup. It's been a long time since I've had the opportunity to go on vacation.

Over the last couple of months I've really been trying to get things in order. I'm going to be making some changes to this website, not to mention the 3 other websites that I'm working on. I just launched DavidAndrewWiebe.com a short while ago, and this website will feature guitar lessons, articles, CD reviews, and a variety of other content relating to guitar. I will be making some changes to Arctic Sunburn as well, which will primarily feature video game and movie reviews; an entertainment site of sorts. The Angels Breaking Silence website is also a work in progress, but once I get used to the new system it will look much prettier. I've also been contributing the occasional article to Mission Bell, for those reading types.

Summer seems to be a great time for writing, and since August I've written a couple dozen new songs. "So when is the new album coming out?", you may be asking. Unfortunately I can't even ballpark it. Suffice to say, a lot of new stuff is on the way and it's definitely the best material I've ever written. Still, I know it's been taking a long time and I hope to make the wait worthwhile.

In the mean time, please enjoy this free download. It's a demo I recorded earlier this year. Is it an indication of things to come? I can't say for sure, but I happen to like the groove a lot. I know the drum loop is kind of cheesy, but like I said, it's just a demo. Take a listen; let me know what you think. I'm hoping to release more tracks like this in the future.

David Andrew Wiebe - Nightlife (Free Download, 1.65 MB)

The band's next show is on November 1 in Sylvan Lake (see poster). I hope to see you there!
